The compulsory exam and the hunting-year fee
The hunter fee is valid for the whole country and for the hunting year, 1 April to 31 March.
Article 39 empowers the King to prescribe a test that must be passed in order to hunt and trap under this act — the jegerprøve — together with the examination fee, the compulsory course and the course fee. Article 40 adds the financial charge: whoever wants to hunt and trap under this act must pay the hunter fee (jegeravgift), at the rates and under the rules the King sets. Two details matter when planning a trip: the fee is valid for the whole country, and it covers the hunting year, reckoned from 1 April to 31 March inclusive. On top of that general fee comes a culling fee (fellingsavgift) for each animal whose taking is authorised or carried out among moose, red deer and wild reindeer. The King may decide that the municipality itself sets the culling fee for moose and red deer within a given frame.
