Czechia: 500 hectares minimum for a hunting territory
The act on myslivost sets a hunting territory’s minimum area at 500 hectares, and 50 hectares for an enclosure.
The Czech act of 27 November 2001 on myslivost (zákon č. 449/2001 Sb.) covers wide ground: rearing and conserving the game species living wild in Czechia, the exceptional keeping of game in captivity, import and export of live game, the formation and use of hunting territories, the status of hunting associations, the protection of myslivost, population regulation, the conduct of hunting and compensation for game damage. Section 17(7) sets the area rule: the minimum area is 50 hectares for an enclosure (obora) and 500 hectares for other hunting territories. The act also requires avoiding spur-shaped outlines and boundaries that would follow the line between farmland and forest; to that end the administration exchanges or attaches parcels. Supervision follows the same measure: the territory's user must propose to the administration the appointment of one hunting warden (myslivecká stráž) for every started 500 hectares.
