The Slovak hunting licence (poľovný lístok) is a public document certifying its holder's right to take game, provided the other conditions the act sets are met. It is issued, extended and withdrawn by the district chamber in whose area the applicant has permanent residence. Two categories exist: the licence for Slovak citizens and the one for foreigners. The durations are unusually flexible: a week, a month, one year, five years or ten years, for Slovak citizens and foreigners alike; for people over 62 it runs indefinitely. Pupils and students of a school where hunting is a compulsory or optional subject receive a licence valid until the end of the calendar year in which they finish their studies. The chamber issues the licence to whoever shows they are over sixteen, have permanent residence in the chamber's area — a condition that does not apply to a Slovak citizen without residence in Slovakia — and have passed the hunting examination, the corresponding university examination, or are a pupil or graduate of such a school. A narrow special rule covers certain foreigners: diplomatic or consular cards from the Slovak foreign ministry, together with a hunting licence from the country of origin, replace the foreigners' licence.
