Slovenia: the lovišče does not fall below 2,000 hectares
A hunting ground is a spatially continuous area that may not be smaller than 2,000 hectares of huntable land.
Article 8 of the Slovenian act on game and hunting defines the lovišče as a spatially continuous land and water area that may not be smaller than 2,000 hectares of huntable surface and that, given the natural and other conditions of the place, allows three things: a rational and coordinated distribution and execution of the measures and tasks planned within the game management area; the provision of funds to compensate landowners for damage caused by game; and effective monitoring and control of game management. The lovišča are established by the government on the minister's proposal. The technical groundwork for establishing them is prepared by the Institute, in cooperation with hunting and nature conservation organisations. The government may alter a lovišče's boundaries in defined cases, notably where they cut across the boundary of a game management area, or where a sharp artificial divide within the ground hinders the animals' movement.
