A hunting pass or licence recognised by Solothurn
The right to hunt rests on a valid Solothurn pass or a recognised licence; guests pay a game-damage surcharge.
Paragraph 10 of the Solothurn act is terse: a person is entitled to hunt if they hold a valid hunting pass recognised by the canton of Solothurn, or a recognised hunting licence. The government sets, by ordinance, the conditions for obtaining the pass and the recognition of out-of-canton passes and licences. Four grounds trigger exclusion (§ 11): no longer meeting the conditions for the pass; not being allowed to own, acquire or carry firearms; having lost the right to hunt throughout Switzerland by judicial withdrawal under article 20 of the federal act; or having lost it for Solothurn by administrative withdrawal. Exclusion founds no claim for damages. Passes carry a fee, except the annual pass for hunting supervision staff. For guests the government may add a game-damage surcharge of at most 300 francs. An unused pass, or one only partly used, gives no right to a refund.
