Thurgau’s game and the 2024 bag

Roe deer, wild boar and fox dominate; in 2024, 2,333 roe deer and 639 wild boar were taken.

The most widespread species in Thurgau are roe deer, wild boar, fox, badger, marten, brown hare, pigeons, ducks and corvids. Red deer, chamois, beaver and muskrat occur only regionally or sporadically. The administration publishes the bag each year. In hunting year 2024, from 1 January to 31 December 2024, Thurgau hunters took among others 2,333 roe deer, 639 wild boar, 729 foxes, 134 badgers and 146 ducks. For wild boar that is a 15 % increase on the previous year. The complete harvest statistics go back to 2003/04, which makes it possible to follow trends by species over two decades rather than reasoning from a single season.
