Gauges 10, 12, 16 or 20 for wild boar with a slug
Big game is shot with a rifled bullet; wild boar may also be taken with a slug from a smoothbore in gauge 10, 12, 16 or 20.
Article 68 is precise. Game may be shot only with hunting weapons and cartridges matching the power and resistance of the species being hunted. Hunting weapons are hunting rifles, pistols and revolvers. Big game may be shot only with a bullet from a hunting weapon with rifled barrels; wild boar may in addition be shot with a slug from a smoothbore hunting weapon of gauge 10, 12, 16 or 20. The minister governs the use of hunting weapons and ammunition by ordinance. The auxiliaries follow the same logic. Hunting dogs are allowed, but whoever uses one must meet the conditions of article 67, and only suitable dogs may be used for a given species in given areas. Captive-bred birds of prey are allowed for falconry, provided the handler meets the same conditions and additionally holds a falconer's card, issued by the ministry on the basis of a falconry examination before a board of at least three specialists appointed by the minister.
