Appenzell Innerrhoden practises licence-based hunting (patent system): each hunter individually acquires an authorisation, for a duration and species defined by cantonal regulation, within the framework set by the Federal Act on Hunting (LChP/JSG) and its implementing ordinance (OChP/JSV). The competent cantonal service, the Amt für Umwelt, is listed in the directory of the Conference of Heads of Environmental Protection Services (KVU), which records the hunting authority of each of Switzerland's 26 cantons.
