Compulsory insurance: 150,000 euros for personal injury
Cover must be at least 150,000 euros per event for injury or death, and 3,000 euros for property.
Section 52 requires insurance of every person to whom a hunting licence is to be issued in Slovakia, foreigners included. They must be insured against damage caused in exercising the hunting right through injury to health or the death of others, with an indemnity limit of at least 150,000 euros, and for damage to property of at least 3,000 euros per event. The act closes a common gap: the policy conditions that spell out the scope of that cover may not contain a reservation excluding protection where the insured was negligent. In other words, the cover must hold precisely in the case where it is needed. Section 53 adds the matching practical duty: anyone present in a hunting district with a weapon intended for taking game must carry the hunting licence, the permit to take game, and the documents required under special legislation.
