The Aargau hunting pass, and three formats for guests
Hunting in Aargau requires a pass recognised by the canton; guests get day, multi-day or annual passes.
Paragraph 8 is categorical: whoever holds a hunting pass recognised by the canton of Aargau is entitled to hunt there. It goes to a person of sound judgement and of age, not under general deputyship, who holds a recognised hunting aptitude certificate, proves their shooting ability periodically, is insured under federal law against damage caused by hunting, and is not excluded from hunting. The pass comes in two families (§ 11). The one for members of hunting societies and for game wardens is valid, for the whole of a lease period, in their own territories or, on a society's invitation, in that society's territories. The guest pass exists as an annual, multi-day or day pass and permits hunting only on a society's invitation, within its territory. The pass is non-transferable and must be carried while hunting. A guest not hunting in the company of a society member must carry a hunting card issued by that society. The government governs the recognition of out-of-canton passes and may set higher fees for out-of-canton guests. Exclusion from hunting is ordered for between one and ten years.
