The Jagdpass: annual for leaseholders, daily for guests
The annual pass lets a guest hunt in every territory in the canton; the day pass only in those it names.
Under article 14, a person is entitled to hunt if they can show, through an exam passed, the required knowledge, and if they offer assurance of ethically conducted hunting and of the necessary management measures. The cantonal government issues the rules for the hunting exam and appoints an examining board. The document that embodies that right in the canton is the hunting pass (Jagdpass), issued by the competent department. It is non-transferable and comes in two forms. The annual pass goes to leaseholders, game wardens and guests: it entitles leaseholders and wardens to hunt in their own territory, and guests to take part in the hunt in every territory of the canton. The day pass, reserved for guests, is valid only in the territories for which it was issued. The competent department decides on the recognition of hunting passes and aptitude certificates from other cantons and from abroad. The pass is issued against a fee whose amount the government sets; special rates may be provided for licence holders resident outside the canton.
