The aptitude certificate: registration from 15 September to 31 December
Exam registration opens online only, from 15 September to 31 December each year.
The Ufficio della caccia e della pesca states that registration for the hunting aptitude exams in Ticino is online only: the form opens on 15 September and closes on 31 December each year. Miss that window and you wait a year. Training of candidates is entrusted to the Federazione Cacciatori Ticinesi (FCTI), which publishes each year the detailed course programme — the course is held online — together with the dates of the compulsory training days every candidate must attend. On top come practical work and habitat maintenance days organised by the hunting societies; registration is compulsory and made in advance with the day's organiser. The programme appears each year by mid-February, but some dates are not final and days may be cancelled for bad weather: checking is the candidate's responsibility. The framework is set by the regulation on obtaining the hunting aptitude certificate of 13 January 1993.
