Vaud: the cantonal system (licence-based hunting)
Vaud practises licence-based hunting and publishes its annual directives on a single portal, the reference for the current season.
Vaud practises licence-based hunting (patent system). Each year the canton publishes its hunting directives — licence conditions, examination arrangements, safety information — on the "État de Vaud — chasse" portal, whose 2026–2027 version constitutes the up-to-date reference at the time of writing. This portal makes Vaud the canton selected as the pilot for building Huntalis's cantonal connector, its content structure serving as the model for the other cantons. This official entry point is listed in the directory of the Conference of Heads of Environmental Protection Services (KVU), which records the hunting authority of each of Switzerland's 26 cantons. The precise licence data, fees, examination and periods by species must be read directly on the cantonal portal, the only up-to-date source for the current season.
