Croatia: game is a good of interest to the Republic

The act declares game a good of interest to the Republic of Croatia, under its special protection.

The Croatian hunting act governs the management of the hunting ground and of game. That management covers rearing, protection, hunting and the use of game and its parts. The act assigns those activities an economic, tourism and recreational function, and a function of protecting and conserving biological diversity and the ecological balance of natural habitats, game, and wild fauna and flora. Article 3 sets out the status of game: it is a good of interest to the Republic of Croatia and enjoys its special protection; establishing hunting grounds is declared to be in the Republic's interest. Article 4 states the aim: to secure sustainable management of game populations and their habitats, in a manner and to an extent that durably improves the vitality of populations, the productive capacity of habitats and biological diversity. The act also transposes the relevant European Union instruments, notably Council Directive 92/43/EEC of 21 May 1992 on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora.
