High hunt in September, low hunt five days a week

The canton publishes its dates three seasons ahead; the low hunt has its own days and hours, which change on 31 October.

The high hunt normally runs in September, in two blocks. The canton publishes the dates several years ahead: in 2026 from 5 to 19 September and from 23 to 27 September; in 2027 from 4 to 18 September and from 22 to 26 September. The species open then are red deer, roe deer, chamois, wild boar, marmot, fox and badger. The low hunt is authorised from 16 October to 30 November, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. On opening day every huntable species is open; on the closing day, hunting the brown hare is forbidden. The hours change mid-season: from 16 to 30 October, 08:00 to 18:30; from 31 October to 30 November, 07:30 to 16:30. Low-hunt species include fox, beech marten, badger, brown hare, mountain hare and rabbit, plus several birds among them black grouse, pheasant, woodcock and wood pigeon.
